Copyright Law and New Technologies

What? I learned the rules of the web, what you can and can't do legally. It wasn't so much techniques, strategies, or tools that I read about, it was the rules to keep myself out of trouble. There are many concepts and rules that I learned to follow, what to do and how to do it safely. The biggest thing I learned was to always ask for permission before I use it, that is the safe thing to do.
So What? What we discussed is so very important because of the laws that are in effect for the copyright use. Now I do have a basic understanding of what I can do legally, and for the most part I know how I will implement it to my teaching without getting in trouble. I will need to always ask for permission and site where I get my information and there should be no way that I get my self on the wrong side of the law.
Now What? Where I go from here is to learn more on the rules, and what is allowed. If I just focus on what I can do and use that I should be pretty safe. The best thing for me is to just stay on the UEN site, I can't get in trouble there. I pretty much know how I am going to use this in my teachings, and I know where I am going to get the info for it.

Scavenger Part 3 Reflection

Throughout this long scavenger hunt I learned many things that I will be able to take advantage of and use in my teachings. There is so much helpful information I didn't know was out there to assist teachers. Learning these things will make me a better educator.

Through Pioneer Library there are many useful tools that I can have my students use to find out answers, and it is just a great place for many different topics for them to research. There is music, pictures, videos, games, texts anything they could need for information on assignments.

There are not many lesson plans for my section of Health , but the ones they do have could be very useful with the activities I have planned. They are very detailed out and will be of great use through my teaching.

The way the core curriculum is outlined is great, it has quick easy links to any section needed. This will be great for when the parents of the students want to know what is covered in class. I will just send them to the links and then if they need more information I can let them see the lesson plans and how they correlate with the core curriculum.

In all this will be very useful to me and my students throughout their time in my class. I am very excited to see how much it will affect my lessons and what my students understand.

Internet Safety Blog

Throughout these activities I learned many different ways the internet is used and misused. Safety on the internet needs to be a topic that is explained in great detail to all students before, during, and after use. But I believe it is and always will be a great tool for all to learn from and on if used wisely.

Reflection for EDSC 3250

Google Sites Reflection

Post a reflection on your blog answering these questions:

1. What do you see as the potential benefits of Google Sites and/or other website development systems for you as a teacher?
A. Some benefits that I believe a Google site would me is, it will help me stay better organized with my students and their work. Example, keeping track of papers, assignments, tests scores. It will also be a great organizer for both me and my students as far as due dates. It should help all of us stay prepared for upcoming events. It is just another way that I can get my lessons across to the students, which will make me a better educator.

2. What do you see as the potential drawbacks of Google Sites and/or other website development systems for you as a teacher?
A. If I were to depend on them like I have seen some of my professors due this last semester, it can affect students when the system isn't working. If it crashes I crash. I'm not very good at it right now, but it will change after this class. I'm hoping to be very competent with this whole topic by the end of this semester so things like this wont affect my teachings in a negative way.

3. Do you plan to have a class website? Why or why not? If so, what would you include on that website? Why?
A. I will have one after having the Edpsych class. It will keep me more organized, and the students will have no excuse for ever missing assignments because they will always be posted. The site will include the dates of both assigned and due dates for all classwork and tests. This will help my students manage their time and schedules knowing these dates. More so it keeps me on track with the lessons and what I need them to receive.

Answer each question in a separate paragraph. Your responses should demonstrate critical thinking.
