Instructional Media Final Reflection

Instructional Media Final Reflection

Answer the following questions on your blog:

1. What? - Summarize this course. What is it about? What technologies were covered? What theories/perspectives were introduced? Identify at least 3 specific things that you have learned in this class.
A. This class discusses how to use the technology, like computers, telephones, cameras and myself. We learned how to use many things that are out there to make all of us better more informed teachers. I learned how to use power point, you tube, a MAC, how to make web quest, stories and there is so much more to list everything was new to me.

2. So What? - Why is this class part of your course requirements for licensure? How has it helped you progress with regard to the INTASC and NETS standards? Be specific.
A. It is required for our license because we need to know how to use these technologies properly but more importantly be able to show our students how to use them safely. Again I had absolutely no knowledge of these types of things, and now I am starting to get more informed on these thing and will be able to educate my students, and do it with a lot more confidence.

3. Now What? - Will you be using technology in your future classroom? Why or why not? If so, which technologies will you be using? Why? What do you still need to learn about technology? Describe at least 2 specific goals that you have for improving your technology skills.
A. As I explained in the other reflections we have done, these things I have learned are awesome and I will be using the WebQuests, and the stories for sure every chance I get. There is a ton I need to still learn, the most important thing for me will be practice and a lot of it.

Digital Storytelling Reflection

Digital Storytelling Reflection

On your blog, answer the following questions:

1. What? - Summarize the Digital Storytelling experience. What did you learn? What is this technology best used for? Will you be using it in your future classroom? Why or why not?
A. This way hands down the best thing I have learned during this entire education experience here at UVU. I learned how to make videos that I can use for just about anything that I want to express. The technology is best used for either opening a new topic or in closing of a lesson that has already been learned. I will use this in probably every lesson that I create from here on out.

2. So What? - What does this experience say about you as a teacher? How are you developing with regard to the INTASC and NETS standards? Evaluate your personal and, if applicable, group performance on this project. Be very specific.
A. This shows the me as a future educator, that I am open to all areas that can make me better to educate our youth. Doing this type of new technology and being able to understand more and more gets me excited to see what else there is out there for me to learn. My performance on this surprised me so much, I never thought I would be able to do these types of things. But I can.

3. Now What? - What professional goals have been inspired by this project or have not been satisfied by this project (include at least 2)? Describe specific steps for meeting these goals.
A. The main goal that has been inspired is I will put these types of learning activities in every single lesson plan that I make from here on out. I am so very satisfied with this project. From where I was to where I am now, there is a huge change in my feelings towards the computer and and what I can create with the computer. Practice is all I can say for steps to meeting goals and getting more clear on how to do things and how much I understand. Lots of Practice.

WebQuest Reflection

WebQuest Reflection

On a Google Doc, answer the following questions using rich description, metacognition, and critical thinking.

1. What? - Summarize the WebQuest experience. What did you learn? What is this technology best used for? Will you be using it in your future classroom? Why or why not?
Answer.  I learned many ways to take my lesson plans from me just explaining to the class in lectures, to them doing the research and finding there own interpretation of the topic assigned.  I really believe the best thing this could be used for is setting up each individual objective to be taught.  It will give the students a chance to see what is going to be talked about in the lessons and hopefully they will find some very educated and insightful questions to ask throughout the lessons.  I will use this as much as possible throughout the year, whenever I feel it will benefit the students. By them finding their own information on specific topics I think it will help them relate to the topics better.  I think these types of WebQuests would be good for the nutrition, drugs, mental and emotional health, and even the prevention of injury objectives.  I would stay away from the sex education objectives because they could get all of us in trouble by doing wrong things on the web.  I believe this will be a great learning tool for me and my students.

2. So What? - What does this experience say about you as a teacher? How are you developing with regard to the INTASC and NETS standards? Evaluate your personal and, if applicable, group performance on this project. Be very specific.
Answer.  I think this project said a lot about me as a potential teacher.  It showed me how to work with a team to reach a final goal, how to compromise and still get something positive out of it, but most importantly it showed me that I can do this.  I was not very technical when I first started this, but if you look how far I have came it shows me anyone can learn you just need to have patients and teachers who are willing to go the extra mile to help their students succeed.  As far as the standards go I am pretty close to being where I need to be to meet the requirements.  I am not perfect at any of it, but with time and practice I will increase my skills in this area so I can be very confident in what I am teaching others.  My group in this project was so understanding and willing to go slow for me, to make sure I was getting out of this what was needed.  I don't think I could ever t hank them enough for how they have helped me succeed, they all will be great educators.

3. Now What? - What professional goals have been inspired by this project or have not been satisfied by this project (include at least 2)? Describe specific steps for meeting these goals.
Answer.  Two main goals that this has inspired in me.
1.  Making sure I receive more education in the many ways I can use technology in my teaching.  I will take additional classes to make me a more diverse educator.
2.  I will have a goal to adapt this type of assistance to as many of my lesson plans as possible ( at least 3 per semester).  This summer before I have the opportunity to student teach I will create three different types of web based assignments for my classes.
In conclusion this was one of the best things that I have learned throughout my educational process.  This will be the most helpful thing that will make my career as an educator fun, interactive, and organized.

Copyright Law and New Technologies

What? I learned the rules of the web, what you can and can't do legally. It wasn't so much techniques, strategies, or tools that I read about, it was the rules to keep myself out of trouble. There are many concepts and rules that I learned to follow, what to do and how to do it safely. The biggest thing I learned was to always ask for permission before I use it, that is the safe thing to do.
So What? What we discussed is so very important because of the laws that are in effect for the copyright use. Now I do have a basic understanding of what I can do legally, and for the most part I know how I will implement it to my teaching without getting in trouble. I will need to always ask for permission and site where I get my information and there should be no way that I get my self on the wrong side of the law.
Now What? Where I go from here is to learn more on the rules, and what is allowed. If I just focus on what I can do and use that I should be pretty safe. The best thing for me is to just stay on the UEN site, I can't get in trouble there. I pretty much know how I am going to use this in my teachings, and I know where I am going to get the info for it.

Scavenger Part 3 Reflection

Throughout this long scavenger hunt I learned many things that I will be able to take advantage of and use in my teachings. There is so much helpful information I didn't know was out there to assist teachers. Learning these things will make me a better educator.

Through Pioneer Library there are many useful tools that I can have my students use to find out answers, and it is just a great place for many different topics for them to research. There is music, pictures, videos, games, texts anything they could need for information on assignments.

There are not many lesson plans for my section of Health , but the ones they do have could be very useful with the activities I have planned. They are very detailed out and will be of great use through my teaching.

The way the core curriculum is outlined is great, it has quick easy links to any section needed. This will be great for when the parents of the students want to know what is covered in class. I will just send them to the links and then if they need more information I can let them see the lesson plans and how they correlate with the core curriculum.

In all this will be very useful to me and my students throughout their time in my class. I am very excited to see how much it will affect my lessons and what my students understand.
